“The Secret of Change Is to Focus All of Your Energy, Not on Fighting the Old, But on Building the New”
~ Socrates (character from “Way of the Peaceful Warrior” by Dan Millman)

In order to exit the control of the current system, we must eliminate our dependency on it. We can complain about capitalism all we want, yet we actually embolden greed with many of the purchases we make. In addition to funding these corrupt corporations, we are sending them the message that we approve of their depravity whether it be the use of slave labor, child workers, environmental damage, destabilization of economies or debasement of cultures. Arguing about whether socialism is good or bad is simply a distraction when we regularly give up our privacy and independence in exchange for security, fun and convenience. More effective would be to drop the labels and pseudo intellectual debates, face reality and take action in the real world.

This list may seem overwhelming, but we can start with just one change and it will make an immediate difference on a spiritual level. Of course we shouldn’t just stop at one, but gradually make as many adjustments as possible. By withholding our consent to inhumane practices, we will set an example for others and positively affect the common consciousness. When enough people do this, a real change will materialize in the physical world. Don’t worry that not enough people are doing the same as you to make a real change. This is not an excuse for anyone to not do their part. We should each be doing the right thing even if it seems we are the only ones doing it.

  1.  Shopping
    • Buy local, organic and support small businesses as much as possible
    • Stop buying from Amazon and Walmart.
    • Buy American made as much as possible.
    • Research the companies you purchase. Don’t buy from businesses that exploit small communities, use child labor or pollute the environment
    • Research the ingredients or materials in the products you purchase. Are they safe and ethically sourced?
  2. Money –  Use cash and barter whenever possible!
  3. DIY – Learn how do make and fix things yourself. Develop basic sewing, mechanical and carpentry skills.
  4. Entertainment/Recreation – Rethink what you do you for fun and leisure. Concerts, television and movies are full of symbolism and programming that detrimentally influence our thoughts and behavior. Instead, make music with your friends, have potlucks, spend more time with family, do more outdoor activities.
  5. Entrepreneurship – Start a small business. It can even be a side gig and you don’t have to quit your job if you don’t want to. Teach others your skills, tutor, babysit, dog walking, yard work, homemade products etc.
  6. Food
    • Make Food from Scratch – Avoid processed food as much as possible. Learn to bake and make your favorite recipes from scratch. It usually tastes much better than precooked food from a box or can that’s usually filled with gmo’s, artificial ingredients and preservatives. It’s also the best way to control what goes into your body.
    • Garden – Grow your own fruits and vegetables, learn how to forage and compost,
    • Food Preservation –  Canning, pickling, dehydrating and freezing foods.
    • Farmer’s market – Shop at farmer’s markets, join a local food co-op, volunteer in a community garden.
  7. Education
    • Homeschool – Pull your kids out of school. This movement is growing, so it’s very possible that you can find a local group of parents with similar values.
    • Higher Education – Consider learning a trade, apprenticeships and self employment rather than going for a university education.
  8. Healthcare
    • Nutrition – Most ailments such as flus, digestive issues, headaches, allergies, constipation and even cancer can be treated or prevented all together with proper nutrition and by avoiding processed foods. We must research, learn how to read food labels and understand what our bodies need. Everyone is different and it is each person’s duty to figure out what is best for himself/herself.
    • First Aid – Keep your first aid kit stocked. Learn how to treat burns, sprains, cuts, stop bleeding at home and know when a doctor or emergency room visit is needed. Look into herbal and natural treatments.
    • Home Remedies – Natural materials can serve as remedies that are just as effective and in many cases, more effective (often less expensive too) than the pharmaceutical option. Look into food grade baking soda, food grade hydrogen peroxide, colloidal silver, diatomaceous earth, chlorella, activated charcoal, epsom salts, borax, apple cider vinegar, essential oils, medicinal herbs (Lavender, Rosemary, Clove, Chamomile etc) and many more.
  9. Technology – Wean yourself off of as many gadgets and apps as possible. Avoid using CR codes. Every time you use these things, you are using your free will to surrender your privacy and rights.
  10. Big Banking/ Mutual Funds/Stock Market – Our investments often fund pharmaceutical companies, weapons contractors, big tech and other corporations that exploit, subvert and steal from populations around the world. Not all corporations are corrupt or inhumane but it is our duty to know where our money is going.
  11. Safety & Self Protection
    • Self Defense – Practice a martial art or at least learn some self defense techniques.
    • Home & Property – What are your options? Learn how to properly use an alarm system and/or firearms. What are the laws? Make sure everything in your home is working properly. Have a plan in case of fire, home invasion or natural disaster.
    • Community – Get to know your neighbors and local law enforcement.
  12. Charity – Unfortunately the 501 c3 is often very deceptive at best, even though a few may be doing great work. Research thoroughly before you give to ANY charity. Donate as directly and locally as possible, even if there is no tax write off to go with it. Know where your money is going.
